2011 China International Building & Interior Design Festival


2011 China International Building and Interior Design Festival was organized by China Institute of Interior Design, Interior Design magazine and Shanghai UBM Sinoexpo International Exhibition Co., Ltd. in Hall W3. The theme of the event was “New Eco Live”, focussing on the relationships between green, energy saving buildings, interior design and building materials. Participants experienced the beauty of eco-friendly design through forums, display areas and awards showcasing China’s design strengths. The festival also delivered the message that energy-saving and eco-friendly building materials can contribute to harmony.

Eco-Building & Urban Development Forum: New Urbanism – Architectural Spaces with A Story to Tell

Conversation with Chinese and Foreign Designers: The Flexibility of Space - a Strategy for Future

The flexibility of space means that the functional partitioning of space can adjust readily to different conditions. It will help solve the problems of space allocation and modern space design, as well as improving the building engineering quality. The flexible housing design, which features a quick response to the requirements from inhabitants and easy maintenance at a low cost, is believed to be the key resolution to the conflict between floor space and functionality of urban residential buildings. In this forum, Mr Peng Wu, the associate designer from Gensler, shared his experience on digital architectural design and the application of ecological building materials. Mr Pascal Hartmann from Logon introduced the case on the renovation of creative and cultural park. Adam Fang from Naço gave us an impressive speech on the flexibility of space design.


Retail Space Design and Brand Strategy - Tongji University - Politecnico di Milano EMDM Programme Seminar

Modern design in China is still developing. The shortage of in-depth knowledge with regards to design concepts and ineffective design management are the biggest problems for us. Tongji University and Polytechnic University of Milan set up the courses of Executive Master of Design Management (EMDM) in order to train China’s talents for modern design management and design guidance and design strategy. In this seminar, Mr Greg M. Gorman, who is the visiting professor of Sino-Italian Campus of Tongji University, was invited to give us a speech on the international advanced concepts of retail space design and brand strategy.

The Second C.O.C.A Award Ceremony

The Second C.O.C.A (Century Oro Ceramics Award) is co-organised by China Building Ceramics & Sanitary Association and China Institute of Interior Design.
